ZABOR
"I certainly think that another Holocaust can happen again.
It did already occur; think of Cambodia, Rwanda, and Bosnia."
Miep Gies.

During the Bosnian War the UN resolution n. 819 stated that the city of Srebrenica was a "safe area" where no "hostile act" had to take place. The serb army of Gen.Ratko Mladic conquered the city, the "safe area" fall and the refugees, that shelterd there, where entrapped. Men and women were parted. The men were killed and the women were raped. All this happened the 11th July 1995. The "enclave" was guarded by 600 ONU pacekeepers, however they did not engage the fight and nobody protected the unarmed civilians. The reasons for this are not yet clear.

"Zabor" is the bosniac word for "oblivion".
During those days, more than 8000 males within 12 and 80 years of age were forgotten and killed.
Forensic archaeologists of the UN are still identifying the victims and every year, the 11th of July,
the remains are returned to the families and the funerals are celebrated.

Some of the houses shelled during the conflict have never been restored and some of these are still inhabited. Sometimes who lives there don't want to cover the signs of the bullets on the walls, though they suffered they want to remember.
Socialist architecture in Tuzla.
The tensions between the orthodox christian and muslim communities degenerated because of religion matters. The mosque and the church became symbols of religious radicalism and thereby intollerance.
In 1993, while in Germany, Stuttgart, 1150 km far from Sarajevo, the world was watching the World Championships in Athletics in television, in Sarajevo almost ten people died each day. During the war of the Balcans the Siege of Sarajevo lasted precisely 1425 days and during this three years the city suffered fourteen thousand casualties.
... When the remains of the victims of Srebrenica Massacre are ready to be returned to the families the coffins are loaded on a truck and the truck crosses Sarajevo, the fields and the mountains before arriving at the Potocari memorial. Along the way people honour the memory of the victims.
When the truck arrives the coffins are moved in an hangar and, when all the coffins are placed on the ground, the Alim starts a celebration and people pray.
The green and the gold are the colours of Islam.
The hangar is open from sunrise to sunset.
During the day people come to cry for their relatives while photographers take their pictures.
From both sides people demostrate during the burial.
Some Serbs don't cry for the victims of Srebrenica Massacre.
They have their own celebrations.
All this people whose family name was "Alic" are buried in the memorial.
The carving on the stone say " ...may grievance become hope! may revenge become justice!..that Srebrenica never happens again to no one and nowhere!".
Sad is to know that somebody, somewhere, would do such things again..
